U2 Magnificent

The entire world listens to Bono praise God. Yet do they hear it?

U2 “Magnificent” from World Cup:

See also “Amazing Grace”.
If only these songs were longer…

One Response to U2 Magnificent

  1. Mark Scherer says:

Enemies of the cross, understandably, prefer the easier and more widely traveled road of self consideration, interest and gratification: “Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things.”

I was thinking about the fusion of faith and real life living and this sentences got me thinking about the movie I just saw “Food,Inc.” and the show Botony of Desire, and with the book Omnivores Dilemma. Have we as a capitalist society traveled to far down the road of self interest and gratification? If the owners of business were to find out that what they are doing is detrimental to the environment and humanity then we/they should immediately stop what we are doing and willingly ‘suffer’ the cost of doing things correctly. i.e. putting cows back out to pasture for five days before slaughter, taking whatever steps we need to reduce pollution, being more concerned about quantity than quality. It is not just capitalist societies but all societies that put self interest of politicians (read corrupt- including our own), corporations, and some church and religious leaders. I have never understood why rules that would protect humanity are so aggressively fought by certain aspects of our society. I also can not fathom how Monsanto can have a patent on life and prossecute those that are hurt buy the wind blowing in their direction. It has been shown time and time again that when the environment is improved so does the economy. Also when life is free and not owned then the world improves at a faster pace. It goes without saying that dictatorships are the anti message of Chist but is unbridled capatilism also anti message of Christ and what Paul says here? It all comes back to a personal responsibility to not only live your personal life within your family and friend like Christ but also your professional life. We have to be Christian 24/7 not just for a couple of hours on Sunday mornings. Keep em comining Nic
